“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
In the first few weeks of the 2025 racing season, we have seen two drivers hit their strides in their respective series. Christopher Bell has won three of the first four NASCAR races, and Alex Palou picked up where he left off in IndyCar by winning the first race of the season. Their current success can make you forget the challenges they have faced to get to their winning ways, but when you remember their past, you see the ebbs and flows of struggle and victory.
Christopher Bell faced heartbreak in 2022 and 2023 after making it to the Championship Four each season but falling short in the final race. Last year was comparatively lackluster as he missed the Championship Four altogether. While being heralded as the next big thing when he first entered the sport, he has had an average career at Joe Gibbs Racing so far, balancing success and loss. Now, however, he is on a roll with three consecutive victories and looking strong for 2025.
Alex Palou began his career underrated and unknown with Dale Coyne Racing. After a challenging rookie season, it all changed when he moved to Chip Ganassi Racing in 2021. He started strong right away, winning the first race of the 2021 season and ultimately winning the championship. After a contract battle that is still going on behind the scenes in litigation, he has now won the IndyCar championship the last two seasons. He is on a roll, continuing his 2024 dominance with the first win of the season in St. Petersburg.
The ebbs and flows of these drivers’ racing careers parallel our lives too. We have times of success and times of struggle. Whether outside forces like natural disasters, political changes, and economic challenges, or internal struggles like emotional, relational, or spiritual strife are plaguing you, we must persevere through all seasons. With Christ, we can persevere through it all. This is good news!
Without Christ, the world looks terribly hopeless. With Christ, we know that this is not our home, that this world is broken, and that God is in control and knows the outcome of everything that is going on. We have the promise of restoration, God’s presence, and his power to rely on through all seasons. Because of Christ, we can endure, and reap the harvest of our lives. So don’t become weary, even though there’s a lot in this world that can tire us out. Keep pressing on, and do not give up. God is with us, and we will reap our harvest for our good in God’s time.
