“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens” Ecclesiastes 3:1 NLT
Pato O’Ward earned his first victory of the 2026 IndyCar season at Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course, which was a big confidence-booster for him and his team in a difficult season. However, the attention was on all of the speculation and breaking news around which drivers may race for which teams next year, otherwise known as “silly season.” An announcement was made prior to the weekend that Scott Dixon would be leaving his team after a quarter century of racing for Chip Ganassi Racing. This is the most coveted seat in IndyCar, and add to the madness that Indy 500 winner Felix Rosenqvist is also changing teams, it makes for an interesting rumor mill. It also leaves some drivers with things to prove, and they want to have good finishes to keep their seats or catch other owners’ attention to stay in the sport. Many drivers will be using this second half of the season to prove that they should stay where they are or improve their situations. Unfortunately, there may be some drivers where this is their last IndyCar season, or they may end up racing in a different series or on the outside looking in. In the same way, life has many different seasons, some good and others not so good.
In Ecclesiastes 3, Solomon imparts the wisdom that life is full of seasons, some good and some bad. However, all of these seasons are overseen and managed by God. Planting and harvesting seasons, weeping and rejoicing seasons, and even the seasons of the weather are all put in place by God. Each of these seasons is needed in a broken world, where things grow and die in a vicious life cycle. Through these seasons, we can see God work things out for the good of those who love him (Romans 8:28). In every season God has a purpose, and Solomon encourages us to look at life as seasons.
What type of season of life are you currently experiencing? It may be a great season for you, full of joy, security, and prosperity. It might be a sad season, full of hurt, heartbreak, and sorrow. Regardless of the season, God will bring us through to the next season in life. In eternity, we will continuously be with him in a restored earth, no longer facing sad seasons. As you continue through life’s seasons, look to God, your crew chief, to guide you to your next step.
