In IndyCar, Pato O’Ward claimed two victories in one day at the Milwaukee Mile after rain put a damper on Saturday’s activities. Alex Palou also celebrated his fifth championship after sealing the deal a week early after the final Milwaukee race. After sitting through the rain and thunderstorms that plagued the beginning of the weekend, these drivers left with much to celebrate. Ryan Preece also won his first NASCAR Cup Series points race at Daytona, securing himself a spot to race for the championship chase. After several hard seasons, it was a sweet victory for him and Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing.

When Pato won both races, he said that he dreamed of having a weekend like this, where he won everything. He has been through ups and downs in the last few seasons, times where he was winning and in championship contention, and seasons of winless drought. The same is true in life. We have seasons where it seems like we just can’t win at anything, whether it is at work, in relationships, in health, or in finances. On the flip side, we also have seasons of plenty and prosper, where we get promotions, find true friends and loved ones, and see God’s blessing everywhere. What type of season are you in currently?

Regardless of the current season you are facing, we can rest assured as Christians that eternal victory is ours, even when it is a struggle to get there. Jesus says this in John 16:33. “In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world!” Paul echoes this in 1 Corinthians 15:57. “Thanks be to God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ!.” Even though we currently live among troubles, trials, and the sting of death and the grave, this is not the end of our story. Through Christ, we can have a day like Pato O’Ward, full of victory, but forever! We can have a championship streak like Alex Palou because of Jesus’ victory over sin and death. After much hardship, we can raise our fist in triumph like Ryan Preece. We are not hopeless, not left scratching our heads and wondering what we need to do to get ahead. In Christ, we are victorious!
